ASUS has rolled out a new firmware update developed for its RT-AC1200 wireless router, namely version 3.0.0.4.380.9474, which improves overall stability and performance by fixing several issues and removing various bugs.

Specifically speaking, the present release fixes CVE-2017-5891, CVE-2017-5892, CVE-2017-6547, CVE-2017-6549, and CVE-2017-6548 common vulnerabilities and exposures, and adds log messages for brute force attacks.

In addition to that, ASUS has also managed to resolve bandwidth limiter bugs, IPv6 passthrough issues, and MAC clone problems when using HTTPS connection, as well as to improve UI compatibility with Chrome 56.

When it comes to installation, save and unzip the downloadable archive, establish a wired connection between the router and a computer, and log into its administration page. Afterward, go to the Firmware Upgrade section, hit “Browse,” navigate and select the newly extracted firmware file, click “Upload,” and wait as the router applies the new firmware.

However, bear in mind that removing the Ethernet/power cable from either device, turning off the router or the computer, or interrupting this process in any way can lead to serious malfunctions.
