The new update fixes reboot issue when using repeater mode

Today, ASUS has made available a new firmware package developed for its RT-AC3100 and RT-AC88U router models, namely version 3.0.0.4.380.3941, which should fix the reboot issue when using repeater mode as well as smart sync GUI problems.

In addition to that, build 380.3941 changes failback behavior, redesigns the firmware upgrade page, and removes DHCP information disclosure. Also, ASUS manages to resolve XSS issues in WDS page, as well as LPR buffer overflow-related problems.

Last but not least, the producer adds Bluetooth coexistence option in Wireless > Professional section. However, the Bluetooth audio transmission (A2DP) near router might interfere with the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

When it comes to installation, first of all, check your router’s current firmware so that it isn’t newer or matching the present version, and if everything is OK, save and unzip the downloadable archive.

Now, establish a wired connection between the wireless unit and your computer, log into its administration page, and use the newly extracted .trx file to upgrade the router to the latest firmware version.

Even though this seems easy, bear in mind that interrupting the upgrade process by removing the Ethernet/power cable from either device, closing the web browser, or in any other way will lead to an update failure that might cause various malfunctions.

That being said, download ASUS RT-AC88U Firmware 3.0.0.4.380.3941 or download ASUS RT-AC3100 Firmware 3.0.0.4.380.3941, take into account all the aforementioned aspects, apply the package, and enjoy the changes this new release brings about.
