Today, Leica has rolled out a new firmware package targeted at its T (Typ 701) digital camera model, namely version 1.6, which improves performance for the device’s autofocus feature and esp. in AF-C mode (45% faster in close-up range and 25% faster in normal range).

In addition to that, the current update will add support for the new Leica TL app available for Android and iOS, which improves camera operation, menu, and focus selection, as well as playback and pictures in full frame modus through swiping.

Last but not least, owners who upgrade to this release will also benefit from OIS function support for Leica SL lenses, as well as Leica R-Adapter L compatibility for all R-lenses.

With this in mind, if you intend to apply the present version, save the downloadable file, copy it to the root folder of a formatted memory card, make sure your imaging device benefits from a fully charged battery, and turn the unit off.

Afterward, connect the newly-prepared SD card, power on the camera while pressing and holding Video Release button, and wait for Leica’s device to recognize the new firmware and prompt you with additional installation steps.

Bear in mind that, while upgrading (somewhere around 2 minutes), you mustn’t remove the SD card/battery or use any of the camera’s buttons. Doing so might interrupt the installation, which can also lead to various malfunctions.

Therefore, download Leica T (Typ 701) Camera Firmware 1.6, carefully apply it to enjoy the improvements this new release brings about, and constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
