NETGEAR has rolled out a new firmware package developed for its R6900 Nighthawk AC1900 Router, namely version 1.0.2.6, which adds Support for the latest GUI login password enhancement, as well as for DDNS GDPR.

In addition to that, the current firmware updates iQoS database to version 1.238, displays the Xbox priority and device type correctly (when iQoS is enabled), and fixes small compatibility issues encountered with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus mobile phones.

If you want to benefit from these changes, first go to the router’s administration page and check to see if its currently installed firmware isn’t either newer or similar to this release.

If not, save and unzip the downloadable archive, establish a wired connection between your R6900 unit and the computer you have saved the firmware on, and navigate to the router’s administration page (username and password should be requested).

While there, it would be a good idea to save all settings that you have changed from the default values, as you might need to re-enter them manually after the upgrade.

Afterward, go to Maintenance > Router Upgrade > Browse, select the newly unzipped .img file, hit “Upload,” and allow the device to perform the installation.

During this process, avoid removing Ethernet/power cables from the devices, closing the web browser, powering down the router/computer, or interrupting the installation in any way, as it will cause device malfunctions.

That said, download NETGEAR R6900 Router Firmware 1.0.2.6, carefully apply it on your device, and enjoy the changes this new release brings about.
