The new update supports MP4 format for recording HD video

Today, Canon has rolled out a new firmware package compatible with its XC10 camcorders, namely version 1.0.2.0, which adds a shutter setting value (NTSC:1/25, 1/50; PAL:1/30) as a flicker reduction measure, and more.

This new update allows owners to use MP4 formats to record HD video files, increases the AF speed by approximately two times, and implements an AF speed settings menu (Fast/Normal/Slow).

In addition to that, the producer has managed to enhance the image quality in low brightness during HD shooting, as well as allow on-screen displays during HDMI output (for HD video only).

When it comes to installation, save and unzip the downloadable archive, initialize an SD memory card using the XC10 unit, and transfer the VLA2.FIM file from within the newly created folder onto the memory card.

Afterwards, turn off the camcorder, connect its power adapter to make sure the installation process won’t be interrupted, insert the SD card, set the device to Recorder/Movie, and power it on.

Now, go to MENU > System Setup > 4 > Firmware, select “Ok” to initialize the upgrade, and wait patiently as the device does its job. Do not interrupt this process in any way, as this can cause serious malfunctions.

With this in mind, download Canon XC10 Camcorder Firmware 1.0.2.0, apply it, and enjoy these new changes. Also, keep it touch to be aware when a newer version is available for your device.
