The new BIOS update improves reliability of heatsink fan

Intel has made available a new BIOS package developed for some of its NUC Kits, namely version 0036, which improves the reliability of the heatsink fan, LED blink code, and EFI Capsule algorithm.

In addition to that, this new BIOS changes power button recovery beep count from 1 to 3 while at the same time it ensures the m.2 SSD LED is working properly and all device information for m.2 SSDs is displayed in the BIOS SATA page.

Last but not least, Intel’s team has managed to fix an issue that would stop the fan from spinning when users manually modify duty cycle increment to maximum value.

When it comes to suitable NUC Kits, the present release is compatible with NUC6i5SYH, NUC6i3SYH, NUC6i5SYK, and NUC6i3SYK units, and should be applied only if you can make use of the aforementioned changes.

In other words, if you want to enjoy these improvements and fixes, first, you should know that the producer has provided several downloadable files describing three different flashing methods: Recovery, iflash, and Express BIOS Update procedures.

The Recovery file is used for an F7 BIOS Update technique whereas the iflash-related archive can apply the new version only from a USB or CD drive, and only through a DOS command prompt.

As for the 2 Express BIOS Update executables, if you intend to use them, you must run these packages directly from a Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 platform (a file for each bit architecture).
