AMD has announced the availability of a new version for its FirePro Liquid Virtual Reality (VR) driver, namely 16.4.2 beta, which is compatible with both 32- and 64-bit variants of Microsoft’s Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 operating systems.

The purpose of this new release is to provide tested drivers intended for Virtual Reality application development. Bear in mind that these files aren’t recommended for production workstation usage without VR specific apps.

When it comes to supported components, AMD’s update is suitable for its FirePro W9100, W9000, W8100, W8000, W7100, W7000, W5100, W5000, W4100, W2100, W6 00 , and S7150 graphics card models.

In addition to that, don’t forget that, when using the W9100 GPU with Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs), a passive mDP to HDMI adapter is required.

Now, if your configuration is supported, save and run the appropriate executable for your bit architecture, wait for it to extract all required files for this installation, and close all programs and processes that might interfere with the upgrade.

Afterwards, just follow all instructions for a complete and successful installation. Also, once finished, don’t forget to perform a system reboot (either manually or automatically) to allow all changes to take effect properly.

That said, download AMD FirePro Liquid VR Driver 16.4.2 Beta, apply it, and enjoy the new VR experience. Also, constantly check our website to be up to speed with the latest releases.
