After releasing the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Firmware 2.1 recovery OS images, the producer has now released the developer-only files for the same firmware version, including support for new games and app, as well as HDMI improvements.

If you have been waiting for these files to be available and want to apply them on your console, first of all make sure that you have installed the latest NVIDIA SHIELD Family ADB USB Driver, and only afterwards save the appropriate package for your Android TV unit.

Now, unzip the downloaded archive, connect the SHIELD to your computer, put it into fastboot mode, and run “fastboot oem unlock” and confirm your action in order to unlock the device’s bootloader. If the console has already been unlocked, the latter step isn’t required anymore.

If all is OK, carefully run the following commands (see below) from the directory where you extracted the firmware package, and patiently wait as the new software is being applied.

Bear in mind that, removing the USB cable, powering off or rebooting either devices, or interrupting the installation in any way can lead to various malfunctions, and can even render the device unusable.

With this in mind, download NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Firmware 2.1, carefully apply it on your gaming console, and constantly check our website in order to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
