Convergent Design has announced the availability of its new 2016.01.1336 firmware update compatible with Odyssey7, Odyssey7Q, Odyssey7Q+, and Apollo recorders, which includes a huge number of changes.

Specifically speaking, this release adds Dual-4K, 4K 50/60p, and Quad-HD 1080p 50/60 support. Also, Odyssey7Q+ and Apollo now receive 6G SDI compatibility for BlackMagic Design Cameras.

In addition to that, Convergent Design managed to fix DPX Sony F35 issues, some Apple ProRes frame bugs, and a few rare corruptions. Moreover, the producer has improved playback without a connected source, and Scrubbing artifacts in 4K/RAW modes.

Last but not least, version 2016.01.1336 adds Camera Angle info to metadata and power saving for inactive ports, fixes some issues spotted when using CD Apple ProRes Transfer Tool 2.2, and includes other changes as highlighted in the Release Notes below.

When it comes to installation, first save and unzip the downloadable archive, format an SSD using your recorder, connect it to a computer, and copy the “}Odyssey_Update{“ directory from the newly-created folder to the SSD (root).

Now, connect the SSD to the Odyssey Apollo recorder, power on the unit, agree with the installation process, and wait patiently as the device does its job.

That said, download Convergent Design Apollo Firmware 2016.01.1336 or Convergent Design Odyssey7 Firmware 2016.01.1336 depending on which recorder you own, follow all steps described above, and enjoy the new changes.
