The new update adds support for upcoming EF lens model

Canon has rolled out a new firmware package targeted at both its Cinema EOS C300 Mark II and C300 Mark II PL digital devices, namely version 1.0.3.1.00, which adds support for EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lenses that should be released in late March 2016.

As the producer highlights, bear in mind that the upcoming lens model will not work with previous firmware versions for the aforementioned cameras. Also, these lens will function properly on Canon’s EOS C500, C300, C100 Mark II, and C100 devices without any upgrade.

Since the update cannot be performed using CFast 2.0 cards, initialize an SD card using the camera, and insert a fully charged battery into the unit. Afterwards, get and extract the downloadable archive, and copy the “VLB3.FIM” file onto the newly-initialized memory card.

Now, insert it into the camera, power on the device, go to Menu → Other Functions → Firmware and press the “Set” button. At this point, the camera searches the SD card for a new firmware and, when found, the device will display a confirmation screen asking for your permission.

If all is ok, simply select “Ok” and wait for the EOS unit to install the update. Upon completion, the device will automatically reboot, reset all settings, and then display the “Date/Time” screen.

Last but not least, after setting the date and time, make sure to turn off the camera, remove the SD card, and check the currently installed firmware to ensure the process has been successful.

With this in mind, download Canon EOS C300 Mark II Firmware 1.0.3.1.00 or download Canon EOS C300 Mark II PL Firmware 1.0.3.1.00, carefully upgrade your camera, and check our website as often as possible to stay “updated one minute ago.”
