14 DAY TRIAL // Canon has announced the availability of several new firmware versions compatible with its EOS C100, C300, and C500 camcorder series, which implement RC-V100 remote controller for CINE-SERVO lenses.
In addition to that, the EF 40mm f/2.8 STM, EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM, and the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lenses will now automatically retract to their minimum length when attached to one of these camcorders that are powered off.
Moreover, these updates enable peripheral illumination correction for several EF lenses and allow users to choose between On and Automatic fan operating modes.
When it comes to compatible devices, Canon has provided firmware 1.0.5.1.00 and 2.0.5.1.00 for its EOS C100 and C100 DAF models, respectively. Also, version 1.0.7.1.00 suitable for the EOS C500 and C500 PL units is available as well.
As for the Cinema EOS C300 series, the producer has rolled out firmware 1.0.1.1.00, 1.1.4.1.00, and 2.1.4.1.00 that are targeted at EOS C300 Mark II, EOS C300 (and C300 PL), and EOS C300 DAF camcorders, respectively.
Last but not least, if you wish to upgrade your camera, first make sure you download and extract the proper package, copy the .FIM file onto an empty SD card (must be initialized using the camera), and insert it into the EOS unit.
Now, go to Menu > Other Functions > Firmware, choose “Set,” and follow the on-screen instructions for a complete upgrade. Upon completion, just select “OK” at the “Firmware Updated” message, close the camera, and remove the memory card.
