Canon has announced the availability of a new firmware package targeted at its Cinema EOS C100 and C300 camera models that benefit from a Dual Pixel CMOS AF Feature Upgrade, namely version 2.1.6.1.00.

In terms of changes, the present update removes a bug that prevented the image stabilization mechanism from operating properly if EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM or EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lenses were attached. This issue occurred even when the lenses' IS switch is in the ON position.

When it comes to the installation steps, first initialize a compatible memory card using the camera’s setup menu, get and extract the appropriate downloadable archive for your device, and copy the firmware file from within the created folder onto the newly prepared SD card.

Afterwards, connect the camera with the power adapter in order to benefit from a stable power source, insert the card into the device while it’s powered off, and turn on the EOS unit.

Now, go to Menu → Other Functions → Firmware, select “Ok” at the next confirmation screen to initiate the upgrade, and allow the camera to apply the new firmware (it should take about 5 minutes to complete).

Upon completion, the device will automatically reboot and display the newly installed firmware version; all you need to do now is set the date and time, turn off the camera, remove the SD card, and your EOS device should be ready for use.
