Buffalo has just rolled out a new firmware package targeted at its TeraStation 7120r and 7120r Enterprise business-class NAS devices, namely version 2.46, which fixes several issues regarding replication, access restrictions, backup failure, and others.

In order to be clear, version 2.46 adds support for expansion card port trunking, applies OpenSSL library 1.0.2, and removes the bug that caused backup to fail when the TeraStation was connected to more networks in different address spaces.

Moreover, Buffalo has managed to fix a specific issue that led to replication failure, resolve the problem where access restrictions were disabled automatically when performing a reboot, and remove the bug that prevented user-shared folder access restrictions settings from being saved.

In addition to that, the E30 error message won't disappear when restarting the NAS if the failed drive is still connected, and no improper message will be displayed when changing the language settings.

When it comes to compatible systems, Buffalo has provided two downloadable files: one suitable for Mac OS X 10.6 platforms and later, while the other is targeted at Microsoft’s Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 OSes, as well as Server 2003, 2008, and 2012 operating systems.

As for installation, since failing to properly carry out the upgrade might seriously damage your NAS, it would be a good idea to read the readme file from within the downloadable archive and apply the new firmware once you have understood the instructions.

That being said, download Buffalo TS-2RZ NAS Series Firmware 2.46, carefully upgrade your network storage, and enjoy the changes this new release brings about.
