The new firmware update fixes a bug that prevented the router from providing an IP address for some devices

Buffalo has rolled out its 1.20 firmware update developed specifically for the AirStation AC433 wireless travel router (WMR-433), which removes a bug that prevented the device from providing an IP address to certain devices.

In addition to that, the update also adds a local connection mode, and fixes the issue where the AirStation wouldn’t properly work when specific text was used in the SSID name. However, this problem was encountered only when the router was in wireless connection mode.

As for applying this release, first of all, make sure your router’s currently installed firmware isn’t either newer or matching this version, and if all is OK, save and unzip the downloadable archive on a computer.

Now, establish a wired connection between it and Buffalo’s AirStation, log into its user interface, select “Update Firmware,”  hit “Browse” button, navigate and select the newly extracted .bi file, and choose “Update” in order to initiate the installation.

Bear in mind that, during this process, you mustn’t remove the power/Ethernet cables, shut down/reboot either devices, or close the browser. Doing so will interrupt the upgrade and this can lead to various malfunctions or even render your device unusable.

That being said, download Buffalo WMR-433 Router Firmware 1.20, carefully apply it on the device, and constantly check our website in order to be aware when a newer version is available for your wireless unit.
