Buffalo has announced the availability of two new firmware versions targeted at its LS500 and TS3000 NAS Series, namely build 4.12 compatible with LS510D, LS520D, LS520DE, and LS520DN devices, as well as the 1.80 update suitable for TS3200D, TS3400D, and TS3400R models.

In terms of changes, the 1.80 firmware improves the compatible devices’ overall security level and allows owners to use a backup device access key for a replication task (access key is the same as the backup key).

As for the 4.12 update, Buffalo resolves a bug that prevented internal drives from being detected and fixes the problem where an E30 error message is displayed for no reason, even though the drive is operating properly.

When it comes to installation, Buffalo has provided several downloadable files supporting Mac OS X 10.7 and later platforms, as well as both 32- and architectures of Microsoft’s Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and Server (2003, 2008, and 64-bit 2012) operating systems.

Regardless of your computer’s OS, bear in mind that you mustn’t reboot the device during installation, as this can cause serious malfunctions or render the TeraStation unusable.
