The new update implements a large number of changes

Today, Sony rolled out a new 22.01-05.00.00 firmware package targeted at its PlayStation 5 that allows users to redeem monthly games more quickly, adds Ukrainian language support, implements a new Voice Command (Preview) feature, and changes the visual design of trophy cards.

In addition to that, the current release divides Game Base into three tabs (Friends, Parties, and Messages), allows users to create an open or closed Party (invite-only), includes the option to enable mono audio for headphones, and pins PlayStation Plus to the left edge of the games home screen.

Last but not least, Sony’s firmware improves DualSense wireless controller stability, adds a genre filter under <Your Collection> tab, includes support for new emojis and Polish keyboard layout, and implements other changes as highlighted in the Release Notes below.

Since Sony always recommends using the latest firmware updates available, save the downloadable .PUP file, format a USB drive using your console, create a “PS5/UPDATE” path, and then transfer the “PS5UPDATE.PUP” file into the newly created folder.

If all has been done correctly, connect the prepared USB drive into your PS5 system, start the console in Safe Mode (long press power button and release it after the second beep), and go to Update System Software > Update from USB Storage Device > OK.

Once the firmware has been located, the console will automatically initiate the upgrade process. Now, you have to permit the PS5 to apply Sony’s new firmware and stick close to the device as it might require additional steps to be followed.

When it comes to recommendations, do not turn off your PlayStation 5 unit or remove the USB drive while installation is in progress, as this will not only interrupt the upgrade but might also severely damage the console.

That said, download Sony PlayStation 5 Firmware 22.01-05.00.00, apply it to your gaming system, and enjoy your newly improved console. Also, regularly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
