14 DAY TRIAL // Nikon has released a new firmware upgrade for its Z Mirrorless camera flagship, namely firmware version 3.00 for the Z 9 imaging unit, which adds High-frequency flicker reduction and Focus position auto reset features, as well as new options only for pictures taken using the DX image area.
In addition, the update includes additional options in Video Recording menu (Hi-Res Zoom and Reset using remote), implements support for FTPS, adds an ATOMOS AirGlu BT options to Network menu, and improves manual focus response in video mode and still photography (when silent mode is selected).
Moreover, the producer improves autofocus accuracy, low-light autofocus performance, and focus performance when [Animal] is selected for [AF subject detection options] during [3D-tracking], and also managed to reduced sensitivity of [3D-tracking] to objects passing between the subject and the camera.
Last but not least, firmware 3.00 makes focus peaking, electronic rangefinding, and focus distance indicator available when adjusting focus using the lens focus ring, displays shutter speed, aperture, and ISO sensitivity when changing exposure with the live view display zoomed in, and fixes other rare issues as highlighted in the Release Notes below.
As for installation, fully charge the camera’s battery, back up all settings changed from the default values, save and run the downloadable package (available for Mac OS and Windows platforms), transfer Z_9_0300.bin to a formatted memory card, and insert it into the Z 9 camera.
Now, go to SETUP MENU > Firmware version, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update. Once finished, remove the memory card and check the camera’s firmware version to ensure the process has been successful.
