ASUS has rolled out a new firmware package compatible with its RT-N66U (ver. B1) wireless router, namely version 3.0.0.4.378.9235, which upgrades OpenSSL library to 1.0.2d, fixes CSRF and XSS vulnerabilities, and implements several other changes.

The present build resolves the Web server Accept-Language, Web server URL handler, and CVE-2015-6949 buffer overflow issues, adds Bandwidth Limiter in QoS, improves IE11 compatibility, and fixes several AiCloud-related problems.

In addition to that, this release resolves numerous issues regarding the Adaptive QoS game mode GUI, OpenVPN connection status display, cloud sync between router and ASUS webstorage, Android shared links, as well as several others highlighted in the Release Notes below.

When it comes to installation, first of all make sure your router’s currently installed firmware isn’t either newer or matching this release, and only afterwards save and extract the downloadable archive.

If all is ok, establish a wired connection between the RT-N66U unit and computer (username and password should be required), log into the router’s administration page, and use the newly-extracted .trx file to update your wireless device.

Even though this seems easy, make sure that you don’t disconnect the power or Ethernet cable, or close the web browser, as this will cause an update failure which might lead to various problems.

With this in mind, download ASUS RT-N66U (Ver.B1) Router Firmware 3.0.0.4.378.9235, apply it on your router, and constantly check our website to be informed when a newer version is available.
