ASUS has announced the availability of a new firmware package compatible with its RT-N12HP rev.B1 router, namely version 3.0.0.4.378.9443, which fixes CVE-2015-6949 buffer overflow issue and CSRF and XSS vulnerability problems.

In addition to that, the update also resolves User-Agent, Web server URL handler, and Web server Accept-Language buffer overflow issues, and improves brute-force protection mechanism. Also, build 9443 fixes issues with MAC clone, GUI, IE11 and IE8 compatibility, and more.

Moreover, ASUS adds Bandwidth Limiter in QoS, WISP mode in Administration and reboot schedule in System settings, modifies network map client status and implements several other changes, as highlighted in the Release Notes below.

As for installation, save and unzip the downloadable archive, establish a wired connection between the router and a computer, and log into its administration page. Afterwards, go to the Firmware Upgrade section, hit “Browse,” navigate and select the newly extracted firmware file, click “Upload,” and wait as the router applies the new firmware.

However, bear in mind that removing the Ethernet/power cable from either device, turning off the router or the computer, or interrupting this process in any way can lead to serious malfunctions.

Therefore, download ASUS RT-N12HP rev.B1 Firmware 3.0.0.4.378.9443, apply it to your wireless unit and enjoy the changes brought by this new update. Also, constantly check our website to be up to speed with the latest releases.
