Today, ASUS has rolled out its new 9.0.0.4.380.2941 beta firmware targeted at RT-N12E ver.B1 router models, which fixes several buffer overflow issues, changes brute-force protection mechanism, and resolves CSRF and XSS vulnerabilities.

In addition to that, ASUS managed to enhance router login and wireless passwords check method, redesign Telnet default access and warning page interfaces, add support for its Router app, and allow bandwidth limiter to accept decimal points.

If applied, the present firmware will also add Bandwidth Limiter in QoS, independent mac filter for main wireless and guest networks, as well as a client list view button on network map to easily monitor connection status.

Besides these changes, 380.2941 beta build changes network map client status, adds reboot schedule feature, restricts access from WAN to enhance security, and implements several other improvements as highlighted in the Release Notes below.

When it comes to installation, simply save and extract the downloadable archive, and establish a wired connection between the router unit and your computer.

Afterwards, simply log into the unit’s administration page, and use the newly-extracted .trx file to update your wireless device. Even though this seems easy, make sure not to interrupt the process in any way as this might lead to various problems.
