AsusWrt-Merlin has made available its 380.57.0 firmware version compatible with some of ASUS’s routers, which adds support for the RT-AC68U (HW Revision C1), RT-AC3100, and RT-AC5300 wireless devices.

Besides the new additions, build 380.57.0 merges with ASUS’ 380_1031 GPL, implements the Backup/Restore feature for the JFFS partition content, and adds custom/postconf support for igmpproxy.conf, as well as DNSSEC compatibility (under LAN > DHCP).

In addition to that, Merlin increases the maximum entries in Parental Control to 32 and user account limit from 16 to 32 on the VPN server pages, and updates the e2fsprogs (1.42.13), MiniUPnP (1.9.20151119), and OpenSSL (1.0.2e).

Moreover, he adds some improvements to VPN Status page and downgrades Dropbear to 2014.66 due to the high number of issues in the newer releases. Also, its new firmware implements several fixes, as highlighted in the Release Notes below.

In terms of compatibility, the 380.57.0 firmware is suitable for ASUS’ RT-N66 (R, W, U B1), RT-AC56 (S, R, U), RT-AC66 (R, U, W), RT-AC68 (P, R, U, W), and RT-AC87 (U, R) models. Also, the RT-AC88U, RT-AC3100, RT-AC3200, and RT-AC5300 devices are also supported.

As for installation, this version can be applied like any other official firmware provided by ASUS; just log into your router’s administration page, and initiate the process from the Firmware Upgrade section.
