The new update improves Radeon RX 480 power distribution

A few moments ago, AMD rolled out its promised 16.7.1 Radeon Crimson Edition graphics driver that should improve power distribution for its latest Radeon RX 480 GPU, as well as enhance performance for Polaris architecture by up to 3%.

In addition to that, the producer adds a new compatibility mode UI toggle (off by default) in Global Settings to reduce power consumption, limits PCI-E Bandwidth for Radeon RX 480 cards, and fixes DOOM video corruptions spotted when resolution is above 1920x1080.

Moreover, the present update also resolves Grand Theft Auto V minor stuttering, Hitman graphical corruptions in certain situations, as well as Radeon RX 480 flickering when Freesync is enabled on game launch/exit.

However, bear in mind that the 16.7.1 release might still encounter crashes if AMD Gaming Evolved overlay is enabled, black screens in Total War: Warhammer, and a few other problems as highlighted in the Release Notes below.

When it comes to compatibility, AMD has provided two downloadable executables suitable for Microsoft’s Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 operating systems, one for each bit architecture. Do not try applying them on other OSes, as this can lead to various malfunctions.

As for installation, it’s recommended that you remove any previous version already running on your computer, apply the present update, and perform a reboot upon completion to ensure all changes take effect properly.

That said, download AMD Radeon Crimson Graphics Driver 16.7.1 Hotfix, apply it on your computer to enjoy these new changes, and constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
