AMD has made available a new version of its Radeon Crimson Edition graphics driver hotfix, namely 16.7.2, which includes a few changes that should improve the overall performance of its newly released Radeon RX 480 GPU model.

Specifically speaking, the producer’s “Compatibility mode” UI toggle designed to reduce power consumption and still provide maximum performance has been set to “OFF” by default. Those who want to make use of this feature must enable it from the Global Settings menu of Radeon Settings.

In addition to that, AMD fixes the “Restore Factory Defaults” option that wouldn’t set the "Compatibility Mode" UI toggle to its default "OFF" value, and also ensures it resets all settings to their factory default values.

When it comes to compatibility, there are two downloadable executables suitable for Microsoft’s Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 operating systems, one for each 32- and 64-bit variants. Do not apply them on other OSes as this can lead to various malfunctions.

Moreover, before proceeding with the installation, make sure to remove any Crimson graphics driver already running on your computer, and afterwards apply the present 16.7.2 release. Doing so will ensure no problems are encountered.

That said, download AMD Radeon Crimson Graphics Driver 16.7.2 Hotfix, apply it on your computer, perform a system reboot to allow all changes to take effect, and check back with us as often as possible to be aware when a newer version is available.
