Amazon has announced the availability of a new firmware package targeted at several of its Kindle tablets, namely version 5.12.2, which should include general bug fixes, as well as some performance, stability, and usability improvements.

To be clear about the targeted devices, Amazon has released updates for its 7th, 8th, and 10th generation Kindle, 8th, 9th, and 10th-gen Kindle Oasis, 6th, 7th, and 10th-gen Kindle Paperwhite, as well as the Kindle Voyage 7th Generation unit.

As for the installation, the devices mentioned above can be easily upgraded to the present firmware either automatically (delivered wirelessly by Amazon, therefore you’ll have to wait for your e-reader to receive the upgrade), or manually.

This latter method requires you to check the current firmware version by going to Home > Menu > Settings > Menu > Device Info, and make sure it isn’t already 5.12.2 or newer.

If all is OK, connect the unit to the computer, copy the downloadable file onto the root folder of the Kindle’s drive, remove the USB cable from the e-Reader, go to Home > Menu > Settings > Menu > Update Your Kindle, and tap “OK” to confirm the selection.

At this point, the device will reboot starting the installation process, and when it powers back up, the “Kindle is upgrading” message will be displayed on the screen. All you need to do is wait for the installation to complete; when it does, the Kindle will automatically restart once more.

Now that you have taken into account all the important aspects, download Amazon Kindle Firmware 5.12.2, upgrade your Kindle, and constantly check our website to stay “update one minute ago.”
