Today, Amazon has rolled out new firmware packages targeted at some of its Kindle and Fire devices, namely build 5.9.5 and 6.0.5, respectively, which includes general improvements and performance enhancements.

To be clear about the compatible devices, Amazon has provided a 6.0.5 firmware update for the 4th Generation Fire HD 6, HD 7, and HDX 8.9 models, 5th-gen Fire, Fire HD 8, and HD 10 units, 6th Generation Fire HD 8 tablet, as well as for the 7th edition of Fire, Fire HD 8, and HD 10 products.

In addition to that, the producer has also released a 5.9.5 firmware version for its Kindle (7th and 8th gen), Kindle Oasis (8th and 9th gen), Kindle Paperwhite (6th and 7th generations, and Kindle Voyage (7th Generation) tablets.

Regarding installation, check your tablet’s currently installed firmware version and make sure the software revision powering the device isn’t either newer or matching this present release. For that, go to Menu > Settings > System Updates, and you should see the current build.

Now, if all is OK, save the appropriate downloadable .bin file for your tablet, copy it into the device’s internal storage, and monitor the transfer to make sure no problems are encountered.

Afterward, simply go to Menu > Settings > System Updates (path might differ from a model to another) and follow all instructions displayed on-screen for a complete and successful installation.

Therefore, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your device model name, apply the new firmware on it, and constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
