Amazon has rolled out a new firmware package targeted at some of its Fire devices, namely version 5.6.3, which includes support for Amazon’s Rapids application that provides short illustrated stories written in a unique chat style; however, it requires a subscription.

In addition to that, the present software update also includes general improvements and performance enhancements that might be useful for some users.

Now, to be clear about the compatible devices, firmware 5.6.3 has been made available for Amazon’s 5th and 6th Generation Fire HD 8 units, as well as for its 5th-gen Fire and Fire HD 10 devices.

When it comes to installation, simply save the appropriate downloadable .bin file for your model, copy it into the device’s internal storage, and monitor the transfer to make sure no problems are encountered.

Afterward, go to Menu > Settings > Device Options > System Updates > Update (path might differ from one model to another) and follow all instructions displayed on screen for a complete and successful installation.

Even though these instructions don’t seem difficult, bear in mind that interrupting the update process in any way can lead to serious malfunctions and can even render the Fire tablet unusable.

Therefore, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your device model name, apply the new firmware on it, and constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
