Today, WD has announced the availability of its 4.01.04-422 firmware version developed for My Cloud personal storages, which fixes Safepoint instability issues and resolves the POODLE (CVE-2014-3566) SSLv3 security common vulnerability.

In addition to that, the present update also fixes issues regarding audio files streaming after installing iTunes version 12.1, as well as the one encountered when attaching a USB drive that contained previously-created Time Machine backups.

When it comes to applying this release, the update procedure is quite simple and should take only a few minutes to complete. For starters, get and unzip the downloadable package, open QuickView, and log in to the device’s main dashboard.

Now, go to Settings → Firmware → Update from File, navigate and select the newly-extracted .deb file, agree with the installation process by clicking “Ok” at the next dialog window, and simply wait for your storage to do its job.

However, bear in mind that during the upgrade, you must make sure that your device is connected to a stable power source during this update, as a power loss might corrupt the system’s firmware, therefore, rendering your NAS unstable.

That being said, download WD My Cloud Personal Storage Firmware 4.01.04-422, carefully apply it on your device, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
