Here's one more driver from AMD – the preview for the first Catalyst of 2012. Dubbed 12.1 as tradition requires, the preview driver has no official changelog at the time of this release, so we can't offer you the full specs.

The 12.1 preview driver comes with enabled support for AMD's HD3D technology, linked to the CrossFire configurations. At the same time, the audio section has been improved and Stereo 3D sound can be delivered via the HDMI 1.4a connections. 1080p @30Hz is now enabled on supported displays, as well.

Users can now create separate profiles per application and control 3D and CrossFire settings independently for Direct 3D applications.

As far as the graphic performance is concerned, the 12.1 Catalyst driver is expected to offer up 10 % better results when using Radeon HD6900 Series with either single or multiple-GPU configurations while playing Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.

Still, we believe that we haven't seen the last from AMD for 2011 and we'll keep you posted as soon as something new arrives. Until then, you can download the AMD Catalyst Display Driver 12.1 Preview from Softpedia as of now.
