Western Digital, well known for its storage lineup, has just made available a new firmware build targeted at its My Cloud Mirror, EX2, and EX4 personal storages, namely version 1.03.41, which includes a vast amount of changes.

Specifically speaking, while the EX4 unit only gets a fix for the problem regarding its file transfer performance via WD My Cloud desktop, the other two devices receive several other changes besides this resolved issue.

If firmware 1.03.41 is applied on the My Cloud Mirror or EX2, their issues with USB drives showing improper information or ejecting from the user interface are resolved. They will also support backing up to compatible USB devices using MTP and PTP (Media and Picture Transfer Protocol).

In addition to that, P2P share permissions bugs are fixed, the web UI can display current system log information, and the ability to change share permission in Admin account, admin username in Users tab, as well as rename shares, usernames, and groups is now added.

In order to benefit from the aforementioned changes as well as from several other fixes, download and extract the appropriate downloadable archive, log into the dashboard user interface, and go to Settings → Firmware Update → Manual Update → Update From File.

Now, browse and select the newly-extracted firmware file (.bin format), click “Ok” at the next pop-up, and allow the unit to apply the new update.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your storage model, take into account all aspects described above, and update your Cloud’s firmware to the latest version.
