Western Digital has made available a new firmware package developed for its My Cloud personal storage, namely version 03.01.04-139, which includes fixes that resolve some connection issues.

Specifically speaking, this newly released update fixes a problem with computers running under Microsoft’s Windows XP platform that couldn’t access shares through the remote web access, and an issue with Twonky that didn’t scan properly for media files in some cases.

Moreover, the firmware increases file transfer performance, and fixes a problem with USB external drives not being mountable when connected to the My Cloud’s expansion port. In addition to that, the My Cloud mobile app is now able to connect to the device properly.

As for installing this new version, get and extract the downloadable archive, log in to the storage’s main dashboard, and go to Settings → Firmware → Update from File. Now, browse and select the newly extracted firmware file (.deb format), and then click “Ok” at the “Update Firmware” pop-up window.

That being said, if you consider upgrading your WD personal cloud storage, then download Firmware 03.01.04-139 for WD My Cloud, extract it, and apply it to the device.
