Western Digital has made available a new firmware package developed for its My Cloud personal storage, namely version 03.03.01-156, which includes several fixes that improve the device’s overall performance and stability.

Specifically speaking, this fresh update resolves the problem with drives losing connection for no reason, fixes the Internet Explorer 11 bug so that it doesn’t display inaccurate errors during a firmware update, and removes the intermittent bootup problem from the known issues list.

In addition to that, the power up system restore using the reset button is now working properly, the dashboard shows accurate capacity usage of an attached USB drive (resolves the mount issue as well), and the dashboard screen appears even after a factory restore under the Mac OS X platform.

As for applying the firmware, get and expand the downloadable archive and, from the My Cloud’s dashboard UI, go to Settings → Firmware Update → Manual Update → Update From File.

Now browse and select the newly extracted “sq-030301-156-20131230.deb” file, click “Ok” at the next confirmation dialog, and wait patiently for the process to complete. Do not interfere with the upgrade, because doing so might cause the device to malfunction or even corrupt the system.

That being said, download Firmware 03.03.01-156 for WD My Cloud Personal Storage, take into account all the above-mentioned aspects, apply the new firmware, and enjoy your newly improved personal cloud storage.
