Western Digital has made available a new firmware package targeted at its My Cloud EX4 personal cloud storage, namely version 1.02.25, which includes several resolved issues that improve the device’s overall performance and stability.

Specifically speaking, this fresh update resolves various translation issues, a bug with encrypted shares, and the problem with the Web UI that showed duplicated shares. In addition to that, version 1.02.25 also fixes an issue with Time Machine that didn’t detect EX4 after reboot.

Moreover, AFP doesn’t fail on initial connection or disable after joining an Active Directory (AD) domain, the unit now reboots automatically after a manual firmware update, and the AD integration now has no problems with the system groups.

As for installing the package, get and expand the downloadable archive, log into the device’s dashboard UI, and go to Settings → Firmware Update → Manual Update → Update From File.

Now browse and select the “My_Cloud_LT4A_1.02.25.bin” file from within the newly created folder, confirm the file by clicking “OK” at the next pop-up dialog, and the unit will do the rest. Wait for the process to complete and the EX4 to automatically restart, and that’s all.

That being said, download Firmware 1.02.25 for WD My Cloud EX4, take into account all the above-mentioned aspects, and enjoy your newly updated personal cloud storage.
