Copying a large number of files to the replication target will not affect transfer performance anymore

Buffalo has just announced the availability of firmware 2.80 suitable for its TeraStation 4000 and 5000 series NAS devices, which fixes a bug that caused the system to hang in high load situations.

In addition to that, the present release resolves an issue that caused TeraStation’s transfer performance to drop when copying a large number of files to a replication unit, and it corrects improper behavior of two error messages.

Specifically speaking, the E22 message wouldn’t fade off even when requirements were met (replacing faulty drive and rebuilding RAID array), and the E30 error popup would disappear quickly when rebooting the NAS with a defective drive and RAID array in degraded mode.

As for the supported devices, firmware 2.80 can be applied on the producer’s TS5200D, TS5400D, TS5600D, TS5800D, and TS5400R NASes included in TeraStation 5000 series, as well as on TS4200D, TS4400D, TS4800D, and TS4400R models from the TeraStation 4000 lineup.

That being said, if you have been encountering these problems with your device and consider upgrading to this release, you should know that Buffalo has provided two installation packages suitable for certain Windows and Mac operating systems.

To be more specific, the Windows archive should be extracted and executed only on computers powered by one of Microsoft’s Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8 platforms, either bit variants (except for XP), as well as by Server 2000, 2003, 2008, and 2012 OSes.

When it comes to the Mac-compatible package, like the aforementioned file, it must be extracted and executed on Mac OS X 10.4 systems or newer.

In other words, download Buffalo TeraStation 4000 Series Firmware 2.80 or download Buffalo TeraStation 5000 Series Firmware 2.80 for your specific OS, carefully upgrade your NAS, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
