Just now, Thecus has made available a new BIOS package developed for several of its storage devices, namely version T40 beta, which fixes the compatibility issue where certain LSI SAS 9200 8E cards couldn’t boot with the NAS.

This fresh BIOS update is compatible with Thecus’ D16000 DAS, with the W8900, W12000, and W16000 Windows servers, as well as with the N8900, N8900V, N8900PRO, N12000V, N12000PRO, N16000V, and N16000PRO NAS devices.

As for installing the package, get and expand the downloadable archive, copy its content onto a formatted USB stick, power down the device, and connect its USB keyboard and monitor. If checked, plug in the newly created stick, turn on the unit, and press “F2” to enter the BIOS menu.

Now configure the BIOS’ Boot menu so that it allows booting from the USB drive, boot into DOS, and start the upgrade process by running the “N89_T40.bat” file. After the flash is complete, you should consider restarting the unit and loading the default settings.

That being said, download Thecus NAS BIOS T40 Beta for the proper storage device, take into account all the above-mentioned aspects, and enjoy your newly updated unit.
