TRENDnet has outed a new firmware package targeted at its AC1750 dual-band wireless router, namely build 2.0.6.0 for the TEW-812DRU unit, which includes several changes that should improve the device’s overall stability and performance.

Specifically speaking, this fresh update adds a WMF feature, fixes remote FTP access, removes the DDNS update bug, and resolves the USB LED improper behavior.

In addition to that, the PPPoE issue has also been fixed, the FTP/SMB is now disabled by default, German language strings have been updated, and the default passwords for SAMBA/FTP administrator and GUI are now the same.

If you intend to install this release, simply get and extract the downloadable archive, log into the router’s configuration page, go to “Advanced” tab, and click the “Upload Firmware” option from the administrator section.

Now, click the “Browse” button and navigate and select the “TEW-812DRUv2_v2.0.6.0.bin” file. When done, click “Apply” and then “Yes” to initiate the upgrade process.

When the device has successfully updated, it will automatically restart, so make sure you don’t interfere with the router until then. Moreover, since wireless connections can be interrupted easily, we recommend using an Ethernet cable for performing this task.

That being said, download TRENDnet TEW-812DRU Router Firmware 2.0.6.0, take into account all aforementioned aspects, apply the latest release, and enjoy your newly updated wireless device.
