Sound Devices has outed a new firmware package developed for its PIX 260i rack-mounted video recorder, namely version 1.04, which adds important system stability improvements to the device.

In addition to that, this newly released update fixes an intermittent bug which interrupted the playback with flashing frames when the player was running for more than 48 hours.

So if you consider applying this firmware, get the downloadable archive, and copy the prg file from within the archive onto the root folder of an PIX-CADDY or CF memory card, or even an SSD (these drives must be formatted as exFAT volumes).

Now insert the drive into the PIX, power on the recorder using a stable power source, press the “MENU” button, and go to Setup → System → Update Software.

At this point, the device starts searching for the firmware file, and when it finds it, two dialogs will be displayed at which you must choose “Yes” so that the PIX can initiate the upgrade process.

When the installation process finishes, let the device power off, remove the connected drive, and that’s all. You can also check the system version to ensure that the upgrade is a success.

That being said, follow the link below, get the archive, and update the PIX’s firmware version.
