Sound Devices has just released a new firmware package targeted at some of its PIX video recorders, namely version 2.01 compatible with the PIC 250i, 260i, and 270i devices, which includes a large number of changes, fixes, and new features.

Specifically speaking, this new update adds new QuickTime File Split options, includes two fresh settings in the Menu → Network → Grouping menu (“Push Settings to Group” and “Sync Audio Screen Settings”), and allows the Group to display how many units are connected.

In addition to that, the RS-422 remote protocol is now able to use a unique ID as well as a full stop command during rewind and fast-forward, keyboard shortcuts can be used to add (ctrl+Q) and delete (shift+ctrl+Q) cue markers, and file splits can be initiated at any time.

If firmware 2.01 is applied, non-alphanumeric characters won't be unusable anymore, the “Zoom Letterbox” will be removed, and the Multi-file Take Edit window will be accessible through Right Arrow key.

Moreover, this new release resolves various possible lockup issues encountered in certain situations, adds several PIXNet, Drive mounting, and system fixes, improvements, and optimizations, as well as several other changes that you can view on the description page.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your Sound Devices video recorder, apply it on your unit, and enjoy the new changes that this latest release brings about.
