The updates require Sony AXS-R5 Recorder Firmware 4.1

Sony has rolled out the 5.11 firmware package compatible with its F5 and F55 CineAlta 4K cameras, which fixes an unsynchronized display issue and can only be used along with the Sony AXS-R5 Recorder Firmware 4.1.

Specifically speaking, with previous versions users might have encountered a DVF-EL100 unsynchronized display error when using 23.98, 24.0, 25.0, or 50.0 system frequencies.

In terms of recommendations, Sony highlights that Private browse function must be turned off when using Wi-Fi Remote by iOS devices and Safari.

As for other notifications, know that no files created with the present firmware will be compatible with earlier versions. Also, bear in mind that each assignable button must be set manually, as their settings won’t be retained after upgrading to 5.11.

When it comes to applying this release, get and extract the proper downloadable archive for your device model, copy the .bin file onto a formatted SD card, and insert it into the camera.

Afterwards, go to System Menu → Version → Version Up → Execute, follow all recommendations, and select “Execute” again. Check the version information shown on-screen, select “Execute” once more, and allow your digital camera to do its job.

After the upgrade is complete, it would be a good idea to restart your Sony 4K camera, check its currently installed firmware, and make sure it reads 5.11 - this way you will know that the update process has been successful.

With this in mind, download Sony PMW-F5 Camera Firmware 5.11 or download Sony PMW-F55 Camera Firmware 5.11 depending on which device you own, apply it, and constantly check our website in order to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
