Just now, ASUS has announced the availability of a new firmware package developed for some of its wireless RT router models, namely version 3.0.0.4.378.4850 beta, which includes a DDNS improvement.

Specifically speaking, this new update only adds DDNS support method and tutorials on the router’s web user interface when this feature can’t be use in some areas.

In terms of supported devices, build 378.4850 beta is available for ASUS’s RT-N14U, RT-N16, RT-N18U, RT-N56U, and RT-N66U (Ver.B1) wireless routers, as well as for its RT-AC55U, RT-AC66U, and RT-AC68U models.

Therefore, if you intend to make use of this DDNS addition and the fact that this firmware is a BETA release doesn’t bother you, then save and extract the appropriate package for your device, and establish a wired connection between router and computer/notebook.

Afterwards, log into ASUS’s administration page, click on the displayed firmware version currently powering your device (also make sure it isn’t either newer or matching this release), hit “Browse,” and select the newly-extracted .trx file.

If all is OK, click the “Upload” button and wait patiently while your wireless unit does its job. Also, make sure not to turn off the router/computer or remove the Ethernet/power cable from any devices, as this can lead to serious malfunctions.

With this in mind, download ASUS RT Router Firmware 3.0.0.4.378.4850 Beta for your specific model, carefully apply it on your device, and enjoy your newly-improved wireless product.
