Nikon, well known for its digital cameras, has just outed a new firmware package targeted at several of its imaging devices, namely version 1.1 compatible with the COOLPIX P330 and P520 units, as well as with the COOLPIX S5300, S6600, and S6800 digital products.

When it comes to the COOLPIX P330 and P520 cameras, this new firmware resolves an issue that prevented them from turning on when they were powered off after capturing a still image with “Record GPS data” set to “On.”

Moreover, version 1.1 also fixes a problem where taking images with “AF area mode” set to “Subject tracking” would cause the display to turn completely black (or somewhat white) and the buttons/controls to fail to respond.

In addition to that, the improper behavior encountered by the COOLPIX P330 camera when setting “White Balance” to fluorescent FL1, FL2, or FL3 in the “RAW processing” parameters screen has also been resolved; this issue caused the colors in the preview and in RAW processed JPEG photos to be incorrect.

As for the COOLPIX S5300, S6600, and S6800 devices, this release fixes a rare phenomenon where the units couldn’t recover properly when a lens error occurred, even if the cameras were turned off and then back on.

Therefore, if you intend to install this firmware version on your device, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your Nikon camera, get and apply the new software, and enjoy your newly-updated imaging unit.
