The new release includes several fixes that improve the compatible devices’ security level

ASUS has just outed a new firmware package targeted at some of its RT routers, namely version 3.0.0.4.374.5656 compatible with the producer’s RT-AC56R, RT-AC56U, RT-AC68R, RT-AC68U, RT-N56U, and RT-N56R devices.

When it comes to security, this fresh release resolves vulnerabilities regarding remote command execution, parameters buffer overflow, XSS (Cross Site Scripting), and CSRF (Cross Site Request Forgery).

In addition to that, the new firmware adds a configurable auto logout function, includes network map related patches, resolves the password disclosure issue encountered in the source code, and updates OpenSSL Library from 1.0.0.b to 1.0.0.d.

As for other changes, build 5656 fixes issues regarding IPTV, IPv6, wake on lan magic packet sending, Cloud sync feature, and the parental control check box in the UI, and resolves the samba and ftp permission false alarms.

Moreover, settings for the media server, 3G and LTE dongles, and FTP and Samba permission have been changed, Samba, media server, and iTunes server names have been modified, and HFS+ and Time Machine is now added.
