SanDisk's Extreme-series SSDs are really awesome in terms of speed in their own consumer-oriented range, but  issues started to be reported not long ago.

And SanDisk has not kept customers waiting in their unhappy state, but went forth and came up with a new firmware to have the problems fixed. Like with most of the SSDs around, the SanDisk units needed a special utility in order to perform the firmware upgrade, so here's SSD Toolkit 1.0.0.0.

Users should note that the SanDisk Toolkit 1.0.0.0 only works with SanDisk's solid-state drives and administrator privileges are required when installing and running this application. This toolkit version will upgrade the firmware to the following SSDs: Extreme SSD series, 120G, 240G and 480G models.

The new firmware version, R201 brings several TRIM fixes, which result in enhanced overall performance and are expected to make your SanDisk Extreme SSD blazing fast, like before. Namely, we're talking about improved TRIM throughput, better write performance and resume from slumber or checkpoints.

At the same time, the reported TRIM hangs are most likely to be eliminated after upgrading to R201. Finally, it looks like firmware R201 will also grant users a better recovery procedure during various power cycles and secure erases.

Full data backup is obviously advised prior to any firmware upgrade. Download the SanDisk Toolkit 1.0.0.0 and use it to upgrade your Extreme SSD firmware.
