SanDisk has made available a new firmware version developed for its Clip Sport MP3 player, namely build 1.17, which includes a few changes that improve the device’s overall stability and usability.

Specifically speaking, this newly-released update enhances notification translations and clarity, adds support for ID3 tags for FLAC file formats, includes battery notifications, and improves the shuffle algorithm.

In addition to that, firmware 1.17 adds a fresh Key Lock feature that can be enabled and disabled by pressing and holding the back button for 2 seconds. Moreover, the player will now use ID3 tags in order to arrange song number.

Despite these nice additions to the player’s behavior, the database can store up to maximum 2,000 objects on the internal memory and the same amount on the external storage. Also, users will not be able to sort tracks by Genre anymore.

If you intend to apply this release, get the downloadable file, remove any SD card from the MP3 player, ensure that it has 50% battery or more, and connect the device to the computer through any available method.

Now, copy the “upgrade.hex” to the root directory of the internal storage and disconnect the player when the firmware has transferred.

Bear in mind that, once the connection has been terminated, the Clip Sport will recognize the update and immediately initiate the upgrade process, so make sure you allow the device to apply the new version. Upon completion, the MP3 player will automatically reboot and the device will be usable.

That being said, download SanDisk Clip Sport MP3 Player Firmware 1.17, get the update, apply it on your player, and enjoy the benefits that this new version brings.
