Samsung has recently released new firmware for the lenses that go with its NX300 and NX2000 smart cameras. Version 140116 (for both products) brings new and different enhancements to the various types of lenses that are available.

For example, the 18-55mm-III gets updated to 1.10 and now has improved OIS performance and a new added function, but you can check out the full release notes at the links below and find out exactly what's new for each lens model.

To update, download the firmware for your camera model, extract the archive, and make sure the lens is attached to the camera and the battery is fully charged.

After extracting the archive, there will be 11 folders, each of them having a “lens.bin” file. The name of the folder corresponds to the lens model. Pick the one you need and copy the above-mentioned file to the root folder of a formatted memory card.

After that, safely remove the card and insert it in the camera. The next step is to power on the unit and press the “Menu” button. Go to “Setup,” “Device information,” “Firmware Update,” “Lens Firmware,” and select “Yes” when asked to confirm the operation.

The process will start and, soon enough, it will complete and reboot the camera.

Get the latest firmware for Samsung's NX300 and NX2000 smart cameras, install it, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
