Pioneer has just outed a new firmware developed for its XDJ-R1 controller, namely version 1.09, which includes improvements that will enhance the device’s BPM value accuracy.

This fresh update can be applied regardless of the operating system installed; however, you should ensure that all devices and cables are disconnected from the unit, and all CDs and USB devices are removed from the controller’s slots before performing the upgrade.

In order to install this version, get and expand the downloadable archive and copy the “xdj_0109.bin” file onto the root folder of a formatted USB drive (make sure you don’t rename it).

Now power on the XDJ-R1 while pressing the “Shift” and “USB” buttons until a download-related message is displayed, insert the stick into the USB terminal, and the device will automatically recognize and install the new firmware.

After the process is complete (approximately 6 minutes) and a proper message is shown, turn off the controller, remove the USB drive from the device, and check the currently installed version to ensure that the upgrade has been successful.

All you need to do now is to get an empty USB, download Firmware 1.09 for Pioneer XDJ-R1, follow the above-mentioned steps, and start DJing with your newly improved controller.
