Just now, Pioneer has made available a new firmware developed for some of its AVIC GPS navigation systems, namely version 5.100, which adds support for the iPhone 5 and the 5th generation of the iPod touch.

To be clearer, the update is compatible with the AVIC-F40BT, AVIC-F940BT, AVIC-F840BT, and AVIC-F8430BT devices, and is targeted only at users who own one of the two iDevices mentioned above, because no other changes have been made.

However, you should know that even if you have and iPhone 5 and one of the 4 compatible global positioning systems, you’ll still need an interface cable kit (Pioneer CD-IV202NAVI), a Lightning to VGA adapter from Apple, and a USB to Lightning cable from the same producer.

If the firmware is applied, all the iPhone (with Lightning) related features will be enabled, the “iPod Settings” will be added to the “AV System Settings” menu, and the “Connect” option gets added to the “aha” screen.

That being said, follow the link below, and from the list, choose the one that best describes your Pioneer GPS navigation system.
