Pioneer has just made a new firmware version developed for its new BDP-160-S (silver) and BDP-160-K (black) Blu-ray disk players available, namely version 1.05, which enhances BD- and DVD-ROM playability and adds performance improvements.

If you consider installing this version on your player, first check your currently installed one by going to Home Menu → Initial Setup → Options → System Information → Next Screen, from where you should be able to read it.

Now, if the player’s version is 1.05, then no further action is needed; otherwise, get the downloadable package, extract it, and copy the content onto a formatted USB drive. Before going further, check the disc tray so that it’s empty, and the device has to be powered off.

If checked, connect the USB drive to the player and power it on, go to Home Menu → Initial Setup → Options → Update → USB Storage, and press “Enter.”

At this point, the device starts searching the drive, and when it finds the firmware file, it will display a message at which you should press “Enter,” therefore agreeing with the upgrade. Wait until the process finishes, and afterwards, check the version once more to ensure that the update is successful.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your Pioneer player, get the archive, and update the device.
