Pentax has unveiled two new firmware versions targeted at its digital cameras, namely versions 1.13 and 1.02 for the Q and Q10 cameras, respectively.

The newly released versions consist of 2 download records each, one compatible with the MAC platform, and the other one developed for all of Microsoft’s Windows operating systems.

As for the changes that have been made, the new firmware improves the devices’ overall performance and stability, and adds support for the PENTAX-07 MOUNT SHIELD LENS. Moreover, it includes all the fixes and improvements made in earlier versions.

So, if you consider applying one of these versions, first check your currently installed one by going to Menu → Set-up 3 → Firmware Version Info. If the versions match, then no further action is needed.

If they differ, copy the files located within the downloadable self-extracting package onto a formatted SD memory card, and insert it into the camera (make sure the battery is fully charged).

Now, turn on the device, go to Menu → Set-up 3 → Firmware Version Info, press the four-way controller right to display update screen, select Start, and then press OK – at this point the upgrade starts, so make sure you don’t interrupt it.

When the process completes, the camera will turn off automatically, point in which you must remove the SD card, turn on the camera, and verify if the latest version is installed on the device.

That being said, from the list below, choose the link that best describes both your Pentax camera and the computer’s operating system.
