Version 1.04 improves stability for general performance

Pentax has just launched a new update for their K-5II and K-5IIs camera. The new firmware, version 1.04, comes with a two-line changelog.

First of all, the new release corrects a bug with the switch operation. This has been reported as not functioning properly when the Status screen is displayed.

The second paragraph of the changelog unveils (as it does on almost every firmware update from Pentax) the manufacturers' concern for performance and stability. This improvement can be seen in the release notes of the previous firmware updates as well.

To install, download the zip file from the links below. We thought of both Windows and Mac OS users, so this is up for everybody.

Copy the bin file to a formatted SD card and make sure you have a full battery available for your camera.

The next step is to insert the memory card into your camera (the device must be turned off) and then power on while holding the Menu key. A “Now Loading” note should appear on the screen, followed by “Program update.”

Press the four-way controller to select "YES" and press the "OK" button. When update is completed, the "COMPLETE" will be displayed at the left bottom of the LCD monitor, then turn the camera off.

When all is done, remove the SD card from the camera and you've completed the installation procedure.

Below is the link to the new firmware. Download, install and stay “updated one minute ago.”
