Panasonic has recently released a new firmware update for its AJ-PX5000G and AJ-PX2300MC P2HD professional video cameras. Version 14.63 improves the speed of ATW (Auto Tracking White Balance), the stability of proxy recording, and the AUTO KNEE function (when you adjust levels to shoot people or scenery against a strongly lit background).

The issue regarding the viewfinder’s tally lamp not lighting up when recording has also been resolved with this release.

The installation process requires you to download the Panasonic AJ-PX5000G/AJ-PX2300MC Video Camera Firmware 14.63-00-0.0 and extract the archive to an accessible location, such as your Desktop.

Insert an SD or SDHC memory card in your camera and format it, then copy the newly created “PRIVATE” folder from the extraction. Make sure the operation is complete and safely remove the card.

It is recommended that you use an external power source for the camera during the update. This will prevent the unit from shutting down during the installation.

Turn the camera on, press the “Thumbnail” button, and insert the SD card containing the firmware file. Next, press and hold the “Menu” button for three seconds or more to display the main menu on the thumbnail screen.

Select “SYSTEM,” then “UPDATE,” and confirm with the “SET” button. The message “Preparing for update” should come on. From this point on, the installation process might take up to 45 minutes, depending on the version you are updating from.

When the operation is complete, a message will advise you to power off the device and remove DC power. At this point, it is recommended that you remove the SD card as well.
